Abstract
Due to the pragmatic need for ensuring energy security, governments of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have to date emphasised the potential economic and technological benefits of nuclear energy, but have paid less attention to the groundswell of public opinion. This edition’s NTS Alert, as a follow-up to the previous update on nuclear energy developments in Southeast Asia, shall explore the prospects of nuclear-public relations (NPR) management, suggesting the need for a more holistic and balanced strategy of disseminating public information on nuclear energy at both national and regional levels.
