Biography
Nodirbek Soliev is a Senior Analyst at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR), RSIS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Nodirbek holds an MSc in Strategic Studies from RSIS, NTU and an LL.M. Degree in International Law from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), Tashkent, Uzbekistan. His areas of research include terrorism and extremism in Central Asia, China and Russia; domestic and international implications of such political violence; counter-terrorism policies and strategies pertaining to these regions; security developments in Afghanistan; and foreign fighter militancy in the Middle East.
Nodirbek is the author of “The Endgame in Afghanistan Will Impact Central Asia”, published in Afghanistan after the Western Drawdown, (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015). He also published five separate chapters on terrorism and counter-terrorism in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in the edited volume Handbook of Terrorism in the Asia-Pacific, (Imperial College Press, 2016). Nodirbek has recently written a chapter entitled “Rehabilitation of Terrorists and Extremists: An Overview of Uzbekistan’s Experience” for the edited volume Rehabilitation: A Game Changer in Fighting Terrorism, (forthcoming at Routledge, 2018).
