Professor John L. Esposito is in RSIS from 8 to 16 July 2019 as the S. Rajaratnam Professor of Strategic Studies. He is currently a Professor of Religion and International Affairs and of Islamic Studies at Georgetown University and he was also the founding director of the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at the University.
Professor Esposito holds a PhD from Temple University, Pennsylvania. He was past president of the American Academy of Religion and Middle East Studies Association of North America. He has been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Council of 100 Leaders and the E. C. European Network of Experts on De-Radicalisation, a senior scientist for The Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, and an ambassador for the UN Alliance of Civilizations. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of State, European and Asian governments, corporations, universities, and media worldwide. He has authored more than 55 books and articles which have been translated into more than 45 languages. His many interviews and articles with newspapers, magazines and the media included The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Economist, The Guardian, The Times of London, CNN, CBS, NBC, BBC, etc.
