    Biography

    Choo Ruizhi is a Senior Analyst in the National Security Studies Programme (NSSP) at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He graduated in 2017 with First Class Honours in History from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Ruizhi also holds a Master of Arts (History) from the same university. In 2020, Ruizhi’s historical research on British Malaya’s colonial fisheries was awarded the NUS Wang Gungwu Prize for the best Master’s thesis in the Social Sciences/Humanities. His research interests include small-state security, food security, marine fisheries, and the environmental histories of Singapore and Malaya. Prior to joining RSIS, Ruizhi served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the Department of History, National University of Singapore.
