Dr Adam Garfinkle has joined RSIS as Distinguished Visiting Fellow from 29 July 2019 to 31 December 2020.
Dr Garfinkle is the founding editor of The American Interest, a bimonthly public policy magazine. He is a Senior Fellow and serves on the Board of Advisors at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. He has taught American foreign policy in universities between 1980 to 1993, and was a staff member at high levels of the US government, where he was speechwriter for both of President George W. Bush’s Secretaries of State, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice. He holds a Ph.D in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, United States. His research interests include US Foreign Policy; National Security and Middle East Studies.
