NADI Workshop on Maritime Security

"The Indonesia Defense University (IDU) hosted the NADI Workshop on “Enhancing Maritime Security Cooperation in order to prevent Transnational Crimes in the Region” at the Swiss Belhotel Rainforest in Bali, Indonesia, from 20-23 November 2016. Lieutenant General I Wayan Midhio, Rector of IDU, chaired the Workshop. NADI delegations gave presentations on their national policies and perspectives on maritime security in Southeast Asia, highlighting the importance of this region where about half of the world’s trade and energy pass through the sea lanes in this region. They also suggested ways to cooperate in combating transnational crimes in the region to ensure the safety of sea lanes and ports. The also suggested establishing national response centres to effectively deal with transnational crimes in the maritime domain.
