NADI Workshop on “Research and Development in the Region as a Momentum in Strengthening Defence Cooperation”

The NADI Workshop on “Research and Development in the Region as a Momentum in Strengthening Defence Cooperation”, organised by the Center for Strategic Studies, Research and Development (CSSRD), Indonesia National Armed Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, TNI), was held from 15 to 17 November 2021. Major General Jhonny Djamaris, Head of CSSRD TNI, chaired the Workshop.

The delegates shared their perspectives on how ASEAN Member States (AMS) can foster cooperation in defence research and development. They discussed how existing platforms such as the ASEAN Defence Industry Collaboration could be used in that regard. The delegates also emphasised the role of education exchanges among the militaries of AMS in promoting collaboration. The delegates provided recommendations, for the consideration of the ADMM, to foster national resilience by enhancing capacity in defence industry and to promote ASEAN efforts on research and development through the sharing of best practices and the undertaking of joint research projects.
