Muslim Violence Against Buddhists in Thailand
Muslims account for a mere 4.6 per cent of the population in Thailand, where Buddhists account for about 95 per cent of the total population. Growing violence is proving a challenge to the Thai military. “The most dangerous battle in Southeast Asia’s religious melting pot”, says terrorism and al-Qaida expert Rohan Gunaratna, “is currently being waged in Southern Thailand.”
