Sense and Sensibility in S’pore-Malaysia Bilateral Ties
In a commentary, Tan Tai Loon Adrian, Deputy Head of Policy Studies and David Han, Senior Analyst of the Malaysia Programme, both from RSIS, said that the sudden spate of remarks from Malaysia questioning the high-speed rail, stock trading link and water agreements stem from domestic concerns in Malaysia, and Mahathir Mohamad’s own history with Singapore. They said that given the uncertainty facing the world today, Singapore and Malaysia should focus on a shared future, including working on a common purpose bilaterally as well as through ASEAN.
