- Resolution of Development Charge Issue Opens Up Future Singapore-Malaysia Cooperation: Ong Keng Yong
SINGAPORE: Relations between the Republic and Malaysia have been positive in the last few years, and now that the issue of development charges for three parcels of former railway land has been resolved, there are many ways in which both countries can cooperate further, said Ong Keng Yong, Singapore’s former High Commissioner to Malaysia.
Mr Ong is now executive deputy chairman of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.
In a wide-ranging interview with 938LIVE, he discussed the high-speed rail project connecting Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
…On his new role as executive deputy chairman of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Mr Ong recognises that it is important for the institution to ultimately be relevant to policy-making and forge a connection with Singaporeans.
He plans to do this through more open lectures and seminars, while also continuing to grow its research into areas related to non-traditional security, such as food security, climate change and bio-security threats.
