Indonesian Police Round-up More Suspects Linked to Election Terror Plots, Prompting Western Embassies to Issue Travel Alerts
As Indonesian police continue to uncover terrorist plots linked to next week’s announcement of the country’s election results, the United States and Australia have issued travel alerts to their citizens calling on them to exercise a “high degree of caution”. Police said that several of the bomb-makers learned how to assemble the bombs online and had been guided by instructors. Such “radicalisation online and regional cooperation among jihadists … is going to be a challenge in the future in the region”, according to Noor Huda Ismail, counterterrorism expert and visiting fellow at RSIS.
