How do Conservative Muslims see Indonesia’s Presidential Hopefuls
In a commentary, Andar Nubowo, an associate research fellow at RSIS, said that Indonesia’s 2019 presidential election is a face-off between two old rivals: incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his challenger Prabowo Subianto. He said regardless of who wins the election, the growing tide of Islamic piety (or conservatism to others) in Indonesia will not be a one-off phenomenon.
