In an interview with Radio Islam on Tuesday, Abdul Basit, Research Fellow at RSIS said the Taliban in Afghanistan has found itself in a catch 22 situation with a predicament in terms of keeping its ideological legitimacy alive within insurgent groups. On the situation that the Taliban currently finds itself in following the peace deal signed with the US, he said that that military officials will expect President Donald Trump to order a further withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and Iraq.
