- LTTE Plotting Attacks from TN: Analysis
Over 200 members of the LTTE are hiding in Tamil Nadu and some of them are plotting to revive terrorism in Sri Lanka, says Dr Rohan Gunaratna, Head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. An expert on Tamil militancy, Gunaratna told Express on Tuesday that many top LTTE functionaries, who had escaped from the war zone in the last stages of Eelam War IV, found refuge in Tamil Nadu, and that a section of them were recruited by Europe- based LTTE leaders to carry out attacks in Lanka. Lankan Tamils were being trained in the use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and electronic circuits.
