- Is Singapore Ready for Cyber Warfare?
In the aftermath of the SingHealth data breach, Singapore’s Smart Nation push has come under the spotlight. Experts said Singapore should focus on shoring up its defences involving all stakeholders – the Government, businesses, the military, academia and citizens – to deal with the eventuality that, at some point, computer systems in Singapore will be hacked. Dr Michael Raska from RSIS said cyber defence needs to exist in an ecosystem that would encourage a culture of cyber awareness. Assoc Prof Alan Chong said a Smart Nation must be run by smart people, and this includes members of the public who have a role to play too, such as not sharing passwords with others, changing passwords regularly, and closing the whole browser after surfing.
