ICPVTR Seminar by Dr Hisham A. Hellyer, Senior Fellow, Cambridge University
Abstract
A great deal has happened across the Muslim world in the past few years. The noisy instability generated during the War on Terror years has seemed to settle. Yet, what is the current state of some of the key institutions, groups, and ideologies that have defined the discourse over the past few years? How have they evolved, and what is their current state of influence and activity? In this seminar, expert Dr Hisham A. Hellyer will discuss the current state of Islamic institutions and discourse, with a focus on understanding how the more extremist elements have developed and what more mainstream strands and institutions can do to mitigate them.
