Pre-requisites for application to the PhD programme
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 2 nd class honours upper and a Master’s degree in a related discipline and the ability to pursue research in the candidate’s proposed field of advanced study.
- Applicants must also demonstrate competency in English and the ability to do independent research.
Required Test Scores
Local and International applicants
- A median score of 1308 for GRE (verbal & quantitative) test score is required. A photocopy of the GRE test scores should be attached to the application. Officeal ETS test scores are not required when sending in the application.
- For applicants whose mother tongue is not English, a TOEFL minimum score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer based), 100 (Internet-based) is required. Test dates must be within 2 years or less from the date of application. IELTS score requirement of 7.0 can also be used in place of TOEFL.
Selected
The PhD Panel committee will select you based on your intellectual ability and motivation.
Besides your past academic performance (mentioned above), the committee will also look at your statement of objectives, research interest and your letters of reference. If you are short-listed, we will invite you for an interview to ascertain that the PhD programme is suited for you. The interview takes place between March to June.
