RSIS is responsible for the teaching of all regional geopolitics and security and military history components in various officer and warrant officer education courses in the SAF. These courses now come under two rubrics. The first rubric is the SAF-NTU Strategic Partnership, which supports the SAF’s Continuing Education Programme. Under this rubric, RSIS conducts accreditable courses towards undergraduate as well as post-graduate degrees in two SAF programmes

  • Command and Staff Course, conducted by the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, SAFTI Military Institute
  • Undergraduate Professional Military Education and Training Course, conducted by NTU

The second rubric is a series of courses conducted by the SAFTI Military Institute and the SAF Warrant Officer School. These courses are not accreditable towards undergraduate or post-graduate degrees.

RSIS also conducts a Regional Security Module for the Home Team Academy culminating into an RSIS Certificate in Regional Security. The intent of the Module is to enhance the senior officers’ understanding of the regional and global dimensions of threats to Singapore’s security.

In addition, RSIS conducts a one day lecture for Unit Commander Course at the Civil Defence Academy. During the lecture, officers are briefed on the Historical & Comparative Perspective of Singapore’s Civil Defence and the emerging threats to Singapore Security.
