NADI Workshop on “Defense Diplomacy as a Way of Strengthening the Respect of National Sovereignty”

The NADI Workshop on “Defense Diplomacy as a Way of Strengthening the Respect of National Sovereignty”, Indonesia Defense University (IDU), was held at the Majapahit Hotel, Surabaya, Indonesia, from 25 to 28 July 2017. Rear Admiral Supartono (Vice Rector, IDU) chaired the Workshop. Representatives from the NADI institutions of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam attended the Workshop. Participants shared their views on the defence diplomacy mechanisms that ASEAN Member States can utilise to ensure that respect for national sovereignty is ensured in Southeast Asia. The Workshop also concurred on the recommendations to enhance defence diplomacy in Southeast Asia, to be made to the ADMM Track for their consideration.
