The NADI Workshop on “Strengthening ASEAN Defense Cooperation in order to Control Transnational Crimes in Southeast Asia”, organised by the Indonesia Defense University (IDU), was held in the Hotel Salak The Heritage, Bogor, Indonesia, from 27 to 30 August 2018. Lieutenant General (Retired) Dr. I Wayan Midhio (Former Rector and now Senior Lecturer of IDU) chaired the NADI Workshop.

NADI delegates shared their perspectives of national approaches, such as the importance of whole-of-nation approaches, capacity building including the enhancement of human resources, information sharing, and early warning systems. The delegates provided recommendations, for the consideration of the ADMM, to build up effective national response centres, increase information sharing as well as enhance strategies and capacities, establish contacts with international organisations, enhance defence cooperation for more effective responses, and discuss certain issues like extradition with due regard for each other’s national sovereignty.
