- Voters will Abandon Pakatan over MB Crisis, PAS Stand, Say Analysts
With Pakatan seemingly unable to keep its act together, observers said it would not be a surprise if it was “game over” for the three-party coalition as the protracted crisis was a turn-off for many voters.
But, political analyst Khoo Kay Peng said, Barisan Nasional would not benefit from the crisis with voters still distrustful of it.
“This latest fiasco will definitely drive away voters’ support. This does not mean giving more votes to BN but it will manifest itself in either lower turnout or more spoilt votes, whether in snap polls in Selangor or in the next general election,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
… Based on the latest hardline statements from PAS on this issue, Dr Oh Ei Sun believed the party was consolidating its base.
“I think many of them feel that by appealing and verging to the centre, they will lose their religious supremacist base,” he said in a text message.
