Assessment and Examinations

In their first year at Warwick, students will be assessed entirely by coursework (100%). This includes two timed 2,000 and 2,500 word essays or a policy paper, plus a 5,000 word research essay for the core module, along with two 5,000 word essays for each of the elective modules. All assessed work is modulated by an External Examiner. There will be no examinations. In the second year at RSIS, the assessment will comprise both coursework (50%) and examinations (50%).

Joint Dissertation for NTU-Warwick Double Masters Programme

The completion of a 15,000 word joint dissertation will be a requirement of attaining a degree from both Warwick and NTU. The dissertation will be jointly examined by Warwick and RSIS with one examiner from each institution grading it.

Whilst at Warwick, students will receive academic supervision and research methods training as they formulate their research topic for their 15,000 word dissertation to be completed in Singapore. The topic, theoretical frame, and methodological training will all be undertaken in Warwick. Once the topic, method and theory have been established, the students will be ready for the empirical part of the studies at RSIS but during their time in Singapore the student will maintain email contact with their Warwick supervisor. The dissertation will be submitted in accordance with the existing deadlines for the RSIS MSc programme.
