Bio:

Sulastri Osman is an Associate Research Fellow with the Centre of Excellence for National Security (CENS) at RSIS. Her research focus is on violent radicalisation, political violence, terrorism and counterterrorism in Indonesia. She has written on Jemaah Islamiyah and other similar militant organisations, the development of extremist websites supporting violent jihad in Southeast Asia, and issues of/with online radicalisation. She often travels to Indonesia to conduct fieldwork; at present, she is working on a project aimed at understanding individual radicalisation to violence and terrorist motivations which involves interviews with Islamist militants. She is also currently examining the role of new non-state actors in counterterrorism.
