Research Fellow in the following specialization:

Social Resilience and National Security (Centre of Excellence for National Security - CENS)
The successful applicant will commence in May 2012 on a 3-year contract (subject to renewal thereafter).

 

Areas of focus could include but are not limited to how factors such as multiculturalism, immigration and citizenship policies, as well as social class, impact on social resilience. The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the research agenda of CENS and may be expected to teach at the postgraduate level as well.

 

Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field. The ability to perform quantitative research will be considered a bonus.

 

Radicalization Studies (Centre of Excellence for National Security - CENS)

The successful applicant will commence in the first half of 2012 on a 3-year contract (subject to renewal thereafter).

 

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

  • causes and early warning indicators of violent extremism
  • counter-radicalization strategies and policies
  • global best practices in detainee rehabilitation
  • identity politics and violent extremism
  • the Internet and violent extremism

The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the research agenda of CENS and may be expected to teach at the postgraduate level as well.

 

Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field or have substantial relevant working experience. Demonstrated familiarity with the Southeast Asian theatre in particular will be considered as a plus point.

Post-Doctoral Fellow (Centre of Excellence for National Security – CENS)

The Centre invites applications for a 24-month Postdoctoral Fellow position working on the broad theme of Governance, Resilience and National Security commencing in May 2012. Areas of interest could include but are not limited to:

  • conceptualizations of resilience
  • the relationship between complexity and resilience
  • governance and a resilient national security ecosystem

The successful applicant is not expected to teach but will be expected to contribute significantly to the research agenda of CENS.

 

Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field. The ability to perform quantitative research will be considered a bonus.

Associate Research Fellows (Centre of Excellence for National Security – CENS) in the following specializations:

Radicalization Studies

Areas of interest could include but are not limited to causes and early warning indicators of violent extremism, counter-radicalization strategies and policies, global best practices in detainee rehabilitation, identity politics and violent extremism and the Internet and violent extremism.

 

Social Resilience

Areas of focus could include but are not limited to how factors such as multiculturalism, immigration and citizenship policies, as well as social class, impact on social resilience.

 

Homeland Defence

Areas of focus could include but are not limited to strategic and crisis communication, psychological resilience, cyber security, critical infrastructure protection and resilience.

 

For all 3 positions, applicants should hold Master’s degree in political science, economics or related disciplines. Applicants should also possess aptitude, interest and commitment to in-depth research in the relevant field. The ability to work both independently and occasionally as part of a small team is essential and applicants must be fluent in English, with good writing and research skills.

Research Analyst (Centre of Excellence for National Security – CENS)

The Centre is inviting applications for the position of Research Analyst from suitably qualified individuals commencing in May 2012.

 

CENS seeks a highly dedicated candidate who will assist the Head and Deputy Head of the Centre in research support, presentations and note-taking during meetings.

 

Applicants should be able to work independently, be fluent in English and possess good writing and research skills. Graduates in political science, international relations, economics and related disciplines are welcome to apply.
